Daily things like reading, attending class, exercising or taking photos can be affected, and mentally it can cause anxiety or depression. Studies show about 30% of patients have mental health problems. Joining patient groups, doing counseling, and talking more with friends and family can help relieve these effects. I once avoided gatherings because I was afraid others would notice my discomfort. Later I talked with a school counselor a few times, and slowly I dared to express my feelings and found it was not that scary.
