Whether it can be completely cured mainly depends on the cause. Infectious uveitis can usually be cured because you can treat the cause specifically; non-infectious (mostly autoimmune) is hard to eradicate, and the goal is long-term control. For example, bacterial causes may be treated with antibiotics, but Behçet’s disease or ankylosing spondylitis–related uveitis needs long-term immunosuppression. Overall about 20% of cases may be completely cured; most non-infectious cases require long-term management. Early diagnosis and targeted treatment can restore quality of life to a good state, but continuous monitoring is needed.
